Remember my most loftiest of goals?
Do not get discouraged if this blog isn’t picked up for syndication at the end of the month, June 2017
Here’s a wrap up of my first two formal weeks as a blog author.
Why did I think that it was okay or even possible to list that as a goal? Sets up unusually high and almost unreachable goal. That’s what I thought initially, at least.
Until I joined as Assistant Directed for Man of La Mancha. Any one familiar with this show – specifically the song Impossible Dream? It’s a classic. My star, Mr. R, was perhaps the best actor that could have been cast as the Don. He was quirky but not strange, wise but not miserly, handsome even when aged – a combination of skills that was only enhanced when he sang.
SIDEBAR – Oh when he sang Dulcinea I swear to everything, it was perfect.
Back on track. Here are the lyrics that touched me:
This is my quest, to follow that star,
No matter how hopeless, no matter how far
To fight for the right without question or cause
To be willing to march into hell for a heavenly cause
I know that I am in no way chasing after an Impossible Dream writing this blog – but I am chasing after something. It speaks to my soul – releasing my creativity from within onto the technological pages. And didn’t Don Miguel do the same when writing Cervantes/Don Quixote? Didn’t Chaucer when writing Canterbury Tales?
Don’t judge though – I am in no way believe my writing is on the same or even near level as Chaucer or other brilliant journeymen tale spinners. But I am beginning and they also had to start somewhere.
It’s almost the end of the month and I didn’t know I’d get this far after paying some $40 on a whim one night. I thought I’d be cancelling and reneging the promises to myself for whatever else could entertain me – but this is more than entertainment. It’s been fun, most definitely, but it’s also been an educational experience for me and hopefully for you. Look out for my July goals, I might even through in some personal ones for your entertainment.
Til next time.
