Once I was selected to direct next year, I was ready to go.
I am still ready to go. I even considered purchasing a script and score to prepare so I wouldn’t have to wait until December for the theatre’s copy.
Fortunately, I made this know haphazardly to our General Productions chairperson who arranged for an early copy to be delivered. Despite being a formally approved and selected director for what–maybe a month(?)–there are very few things I wouldn’t do to prepare for this opportunity. I started preparing to be a director the day I walked back into the theatre – I was helpful, resourceful. I couldn’t skate, but I could do a majority of other things necessary to make a production successful.
What – you don’t know what I mean by ‘I couldn’t skate’? Well my dears, that is a story for another day. Check back in the near future for my official strategy – my goal is to have it done by the end of this month. ‘Til next time.
