Getting called out

Appropriate thanks is often forgotten in todays world. No? Maybe just my world. I am often forgetting the small courtesies for my family and friends and everything they do for me. This is a known fault of mine, something I am actively trying to work on every day. I sometimes forget to even tell my friends ‘hi.’ I just immediately go into this torrent of conversation, like verbal diarrhea, and forget about connecting with them on a one-on-one level.

This past show, Curtains!, I was pulled aside and notified how people were acknowledging my awesome work even when I wasn’t there. All I was doing, was not for naught (ha, double negative). It’s not that I was entirely shocked, I knew I was doing good work, but I was so excited to hear that people took the time to acknowledge all the effort I was putting into the production. All these good feelings I hope to remember and spread in future shows, especially when I am leading a production staff.

Did I forget to mention that it wasn’t only other members of the production staff but also by the cast? Because it was! Both parties were excited and thankful for all of the work I put into the show. And honestly, while it was a lot and I did feel overwhelmed, I would do it all again in a heart beat. ‘Til next time.
