Amalgamation of Life

Welp, it’s been 3 months…

Welp, it’s been 3 months–where did I end up in my goals?

June 2018

  • Successfully suggest, prepare, plan, audition, direct, and let go of a production
    • Plot out one script with stage directions, costume themes, set design, sound/music

I’m still here! I’ll be in the planning stage until March 3, 2019 @ 6:59 p.m. I actually did more preparation for the audition process and have been waylaying myself from preparing the stage directions, sound effects (do I need them?) and pre-show music (considering just other Sondheim music). I feel good about where I am, but I’ll definitely feel better once I get through stage directions.

  • Earn the Perfect Prefect medals with the Hogwarts Running Club
  • Finish 26.2 miles with Run the Winery race program

These two I’m combining as they are both running related. I have been uninspired to run. I am not far behind in either of these goals, but I am behind. However, the upside to this is that soon I will be back on track once training for the 2019 Fairy Tale Challenge. Look for this goal to stay with me for a long,… long,… long time.

  • Research different (to me) genres of shows

I am fortunate to have friends that are encouraging and engaged with theater. Especially friends who are, what I consider to be, die-hard fans of theatre. They have opened my eyes to various types of theatre that I don’t know I would have been exposed to otherwise. I still have a lot work to do in this area, and I’m moving this goal to a long term goal, but I am excited to see where it takes me–specifically as we enter play-reading committee for next season.

  • Complete professional training for career

I want to recall what I specifically had in mind for this, and I think I do, but I am not 100% sure. I do know that I completed several trainings, not only for my general career guidelines but also for my professional status. I’m going to call this an accomplishment but it’s also moving to long term goals as that is what it is and should be aspired; continuous growth and improvement.

  • Read 3 non-school books

Did this change from 5 to 3 because I had read two books before June? Maybe. To take accurate account, I am presently on the fifth book of Harry Potter and I recently read an alternate universe book of Sleeping Beauty for an online Disney themed book club (next up: Mulan, squee!)

  • Build out portfolio of accomplishments (pictures of costumes, make up, set work, etc.)

Why do I avoid this one? It should be easy. It’s kind of not, it’s a tad tedious to transfer from my phone to my laptop and then appropriately label everything to ensure you, my readers, are able to digest what I’m doing with my life. And I swear, this won’t be an ongoing theme, but this is also moving to long-term. I don’t plan on quitting theatre so I’ll probably constantly have items to upload into my portfolio.

I did create an instagram account and it’s been fun uploading to it. Check it out and give me a follow!

  • Run 4 to 5 times a week (Half marathon training is in full swing)

See the above.

These next items were actually a long term goals of mine but are finally been completed or let go. I’ll be done school in the Fall 2019 semester and I am so excited and relieved. I’ll definitely be planning a party to celebrate this momentous occasion. I only auditioned for one show this calendar year and I don’t even know that I managed that opportunity well. It was a silly goal and not in line with what I wanted to achieve this year. I am only going to be auditioning for shows that really intrigue me or mean a lot to me.

  • Plan out and finish 2-3 more semesters of school (I think this will tilt me over the 66.66% required to graduate)
  • Audition for four shows in the 2018 calendar year (not production season)

So what’s next for me? In the final quarter of the year. October 2018 goals:

  • Successfully suggest, prepare, plan, audition, direct, and let go of a production
    • Plot out one script with stage directions, costume themes, set design, sound/music
  • Read 5 3 1 non-school books
  • Read 8-9 school books (yes.. they are all listed for my next three courses)
  • Build out portfolio of accomplishments (pictures of costumes, make up, set work, etc.)
  • Run 4 to 5 times a week (Half marathon training is in full swing)
  • Strategize future blog entries to better correlate with my life goals and personal expectations
  • Read 10 scripts for play reading committee

It’s going to be a long quarter. Here’s to an excellent end of year, ’til next time.
