Update: short term goals

Let’s look at where I left my short term goals

October 2018:

  • Successfully suggest, prepareplan, audition, direct, and let go of a production
    • Plot out one script with stage directions, costume themes, set design, sound/music
  • Read 5 3 1 non-school books
  • Read 8-9 school books (yes.. they are all listed for my next three courses)
  • Build out portfolio of accomplishments (pictures of costumes, make up, set work, etc.)
  • Run 4 to 5 times a week (Half marathon training is in full swing)
  • Strategize future blog entries to better correlate with my life goals and personal expectations
  • Read 10 scripts for play reading committee

And here’s where I ended up by today:

January 2019:

And what does that leave me with?

  • Successfully suggest, prepareplan, audition, direct, and let go of a production
    • Plot out one script with stage directions, costume themes, set design, sound/music
  • Build out portfolio of accomplishments (pictures of costumes, make up, set work, etc.)

Wow. Not bad, if I do say so myself (which I do, hence this post). I am still working on planning the stage directions BUT I am closer as I decided on my stage design. I also enlisted a close friend to develop both sound effects and music for my pre-, intermission, and post-show. I can’t tell you how much of a relief that is because it is often left until the week of tech week when you already have so many items to worry about.

Let’s decide on what my next set of short term goals will be:

  • Successfully suggest, prepareplan, audition, direct, and let go of a production
    • Plot out one script with stage directions, costume themes, set design, sound/music
    • Survive auditions
    • Survive casting
    • Survive read-through
  • Build out portfolio of accomplishments (pictures of costumes, make up, set work, etc.)
  • Plan for the 2019-2020 season at two theaters
    • Directing
    • Costuming
    • anything else I may be asked/tasked with completing as it aligns to my schedule and desires (remember to cull)
  • Complete my SARI (compliance) requirements for graduate school

I’m trying to keep my short term goals manageable and achievable. I only have a few months to meet them and I want to see if, this time, I can accomplish all of them. I’m being pretty lofty but I am excited to see what I am capable of doing in the next few months. ‘Til our next check in.
